W-f-f-t dot com right now -- tens of thousands of hoosiers are applying for unemployment.more than 22 thousand reportedly filed from monday to wednesday... compared to three thousand for a full week a year ago.

Fox 55's chris mullooly is live outside b-j's restaurant and brewhouse.chris..what industries have been hit the hardest?

Brianna... i spoke with an official with northeast indiana works...he says he knows of at least two thousand companies who are already starting or anticipating lay off.its jobs like anthony griffin's... a bartender here..

Who lived a normal life just a week ago..

Now... figuring out whats next 3 "one week ago business was booming today its an empty parking lot"an unusal sight for anthony griffin...fort wayne's bj's restaurant and brewhouse on a friday afternoon...with no cars."we kind of braced our selves for the word to come down and we were pretty much out of work after that"griffin is a bartender and server here... one of about 75 employees.last week he had a job... now he's going to be filing for unemployment."i'm functioning for the next couple weeks but a lot of us aren't so if it goes on any longer than that ... who knows"the service industry was hit with the states decision to shut down bars and restaurants to stop the spread of covid 19...many now are only allowing carry out or delivery service.but the service industry isn't the only one affected."the number of employees tha thave enacted layoffs or considering layoffs or projected layoffs have exploded"rick farrant is the director of communications for northeast indiana works..he says the manufacturing industry is the biggest for northeast indiana...some 85 thousand jobs.many of those are temporarily suspending work...which he says will create a domino effect into other industries.?nats?but farrant says opportunities are available... and its not all doom and gloom, "between the two major health care networks they had anywhere from 13 hundred to 16 hundred job openings we're not going to reach a point where we don't need to be taken care of in fact there'll be more to be taken care of" the website rick farrant is stressing to people is unemployment dot i-n dot.
