Governor eric holcomb and indot are giving cities more than 126 million dollars through the community crossing intiative.

This will help improve various sidewalks and streets across the state.fox 55' jentill neal is live with more on how that money is going to benefit some neighborhoods here.jentill?

Hunter, this money is going to help speed up the process for some of the neighborhood projects.two of those are springwood and orchard woods.

For several years now the city's been putting money in neighborhoods to fix up the appearance.went out there today to check out the areas in progress.

Fort wayne is one of 214 cities and counties across indiana that will benefit from indiana's community crossings initiative.

Construction crews have been working throughout the winter."

One of the places being worked on is the springwood community.with this grant, they're getting new sidewalks, curbs, and ada ramps.under the state's program, the money can cover up to 50% of the project.fort wayne received 1 million dollars to make it happen.

We been able to move people where they don't have so many people in a vehicle."the allen county highway department will also use this money to resurface several roads in the southeast.

Specific details for those projects will be released at a later date.

The grant application was submitted earlier this year.so far the city has invested 180 million dollars into neighborhood improvement projects.
