Coronavirus restrictions are impacting local nonprofits that help people in our community, including Trinity Life Ministry.

Local non profits that help people in our community.

News 18's anna darling talked with trinity life ministry today to learn what challenges they are facing and how you can help.

"we just celebrated our 35th year last month" since 1985, trinity life ministry has been helping men overcome addiction in our community.

Philip gabriel is the executive director.

"right now we have probably 40 guys who are in residence for a year getting help for their addiction."

Helping men like adam winn, who fell into addiction after getting injured in a car crash.

"trinity gives these men more of an opportunity not only to build up a personal relationship with jesus christ, but it also gives you the time to ease your way back into a regular lifestyle" the ministry quarantined their men before the stay at home order came down from the governor.

"we have two coaches who live there so things are going as normal inside the house and they are still getting the programming they need" what they are struggling with is how their main source of revenue has had to close its doors.

"we use our thrift stores here in lafayette and crawfordsville.

Our men do job training in crawfordsville but all tho things are not in operation."

"lost, then found" in lafayette has been a success in helping fund the program since opening in 2018(.

Now gabriel can only look a things on a month by month basis.

"to look at may and june, i have no idea what that looks like.

But if things continue and people help us out i truly believe with all my heart that they will see us through every month."

Many thrift stores are not accepting donations right now, but you can still bring items to lost then found.

"one of the things people get to do is clean their house while their at home and clean their closets so that goes to help our men and pay for their care with us" gabriel says you can drop items off at the back door of the lafayette location.

He says they are sanitizing items to make sure they aren't brining any unwanted germs into the store.
