EWEB suspends water and power shutoffs for nonpayment

EWEB is encouraging people to make payments if they can to avoid a large overdue balance.

Says they're working to keep the lights on for everyone... during these uncertain times.

But as kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren shows us, they say their customer needs may soon out-strip their resources.

But leaders at eweb say they've not shutting off water or power just because someone can't pay.

Eweb spokesperson joe harwood says they have also suspended late fees.

On top of that, they have tripled the amount of money in their bill assistance program to almost two hundred and forty thousand dollars.

That program gives people a 260 dollar credit for their bills.

But at the start of month, harwood says all those funds were eaten up the first hour.

Ellen edmunson says she's still paying her bills and feels for those who can't.

Sot: i hope that people who maybe have more could help out it is just a quandary for all i just i just can't even imaage not having power.

Leaders at the springfield utility board say they are working with their customers to make payment arrangements.

They say they have not had to cut off services for people who can't pay.

Stand up and with many people using disinfectant wipes to keep their homes clean, county leaders are urging people to not flush them down the toilet.
