Those who i spoke with say..

It was a tough choice to cancel..

But the right choice.

Here's why.

The festival sits right in downtown terre haute.

Each year..

Families..

And friends gather to laugh..

Support the cause..

It's a staple to the area..

Even if you can't attend the strawberry festival, you can still pick you own.

Today is national pick strawberries day.

The best time to pick strawberries varies by region -- but now is when they are starting to come into season.

What you want to look for is bright red, firm and plump berries.

Grab as many as you can... because strawberries are rich in vitamin c and naturally sweet.

They're also the only fruit with seeds on the outside... and believe it or not, they and believe it or not, they are actually part of the rose family.

If you don't have strawberries growing in your garden... you can search the web for a nearby pick-your-own strawberry farm.
