Pioneer Pacific College to close Springfield campus for good

In an email sent to students, school officials told students they cannot reopen because the current conditions under COVID-19 make it nearly impossible to operate a vocational school.

Tonight at 11... the coronavirus has claimed another vicitim, but this time its a vocational school.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy is live outside pioneer pacific college in springfield where shcool officials announced today, their doors will not be reopening after the pandemic is over.

Students that go here for training to be in the medical field recieved an email this afternoon saying their doors will be closed for good.

One current student i talked to says she was one internship away from graduating... but now she fears she will have to start all over.

This is the email students recieved around 3 p-m.

School officials blame the pandemic for the closure because a vocational school requires many in person-- hands on--- classes.

Something they say is nearly impossible to due under the governor's current covid-19 regulations.

Kaylee gribling, a now former student says when she enrolled in the school, they told her many credits might not be transferable.

So with today's annoucnement she says she feels like the school abandonded her.

It felt like they don't care like they said okay done, bye, good luck and that was it and it just feels really awful gribling says throughout the pandemic she feels like the school has no communicated with her and other students about the future of classes.

She also says she hopes a lot of her student loans can be waived.

Now there are two other campuses in beaverton and portland but it is unclear at this time if those campuses will close to.

Kezi did try to reach out to pioneer pacific college for comment but we have not heard back at this time.
