Woman's body found in river likely Abigael Bellows

We begin tonight, with breaking news out of springfield.

Officials say they believe the body found in the willamette river this afternoon*i* abigael bellows... who went under last wednesday.

Kezi nine news reporter jillian smukler joins us live from clearwater park with our top story.

Chynna we have just received word that the body found in the willamette river this afternoon is in fact 22 year old abigael bellows, the girl who has been missing since last wednesday.

Just after one o clock this afternoon the lane county sheriff's office got a report of a deceased female in the willamette river downstream from clearwater park.

It was just 3/4 of a mile from where abigael was last seen swimming with her friends last wednesday when she went under water and never resurfaced.

A community member in the river saw abigael in the water this afternoon and called the police.

Deputies, lane county search and rescue and eugene springfield fire have been on scene with abigaels family for the past hour.

Her body has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing.

Now abigael is from pennysylvania her family flew in to oregon last friday to help with the search.

The mom told us we are hoping and praying that the river releases her, and search and rescue is able to bring her back to us.

Abigaels family just left the scene.
