The crash occurred on the 7500 block of Main St. in Springfield.

And coast website.

In a follow up tonight -- the father of the young man who was killed in a hit and run crash in springfield friday night is speaking out -- in hopes that this tragedy can be used as a life lesson.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy sat down with him today to see what*he wants to change -- so that no other parent has to go through what he has.

Front: 22-year-old zacory hooks- was struck by a vehicle and killed here on the 7500 block of main st.

Today his father told me he will miss his son dearly& and hopes that this is a call for action for all pedestrians in our area.

"it's devastating.

Absolutely devastating."

A tragedy.

Still so*fresh on the minds of those who knew zacory the very best.

Edward hooks says what he will miss the*most about his son who he says was gone too soon.

".*pause...hey, dad."

Two words.

That will forever ring loudly in his heart.

"that's it.

I'll miss that the most.

Everytime he came by, it was 'hey dad.

Crying' he spoke about the many*lives that zacory touched.

Even those he didn't know personally.

"his smile.

His smile.

Oh, my god, what a smile.what a handsome boy.

What a handsome man.

I miss you buddy."

(photo over audio) zacory was walking westbound friday night around 10:30.

And a eyewitness we spoke to yesterday says he saw zacory wearing all black and looking down on his phone.

"if you're 22,23, a young adult, and youve got those headphones in your ear and youre out walking by the street, wear something bright.

Wear something that's reflective.

Take one of those earphones out."

Sunday springfield police said they are still actively investigating, and the search is still on for the vehicle involved.

Coming up in the six o clock hour, hear more about why zacory's father and those who knew him best are demanding justice for zacory.

Reporting in springfield, kennedy dendy kezi 9 news.
