And i'm angela moryan.

We didn't think this night would come, but here we are.

Teams certainly put the off in off-season because of the pandemic.

We're talking no spring practice, no 7-on-7's, no scrimmages, and no jamborees.

But at least we're getting football when it counts.

That would be the regular season.

It kicked off tonight, and we kick off our coverage with the annual grudge match between red bank and soddy daisy.

The lions whipped the trojans 38-7 in their opener last year.

Red bank carries another talented team into this season.

I mean, this red bank team is stacked.

Both leading rushers return for another year.

Including running back lumiere strickland.

Strickly business up the middle for the senior.

49-yard touchdown!

Red bank strikes early 7-0.

=== no problems for the new starting quarterback joseph blackmon either.

Look at this kid run.

Almost bests strickland.

He's just pushed out of bounds to give him a 40-yard run.

=== sets up this... the other returning play maker... reco trimble making the soddy defense tremble.

Casually gets in for the 8-yard score.

=== soddy daisy starts to turn things around in the second quarter.

Receiver lavelle coffey looses the ball.

=== pretty much all the good from soddy tonight.

Another red bank rout, 41-12.

Notre dame travel across town to the central purple pounders.

=== however, it's the fighting irish that did the pounding tonight.

Defensive back christian robinson gobbles up the pass from quarterback tyler connor.

He's untouchable.

=== next irish drive, brinson drops back.... sends up a prayer to receiver georgie fillauer.

He drags the defender into the endzone with him.

Next series... brinson looks to throw, runs instead.

Eyes the endzone and nothing's stopping him.

20-0 irish.

=== notre dame shuts out central, 33-0.

After karns backed out of their opener with the mustangs at the last minute on thursday afternoon, akins quickly hustled up another game before the end of the day against cannon county.

Sadly for akins, it may not be the last time he has to do that.

The world is in the middle of a pandemic after all.

Mustangs lighting up the lions in the second quarter leading it 14-0.

Pope hooks up with brody swafford for the touchdown.

Nice leaping grab.

Two point try failed so it's 20-0.

Cannon county got into mustangs territory on their next series.

But the ball comes out, and number 40 kallum lowe makes the recovery for walker valley.

Mustangs go to their ground game.

Give to marc rodgers.

Nice hole and nice run for the first down.

Walker valley at the goal line.

Little fuzzy on the hand-off, but heath tanksley gets through the traffic for the touchdown.

That made it 26-0.

And the final cleveland opened their season with a home date against knox central kind of funny they make you social distance on the coin toss, before lining up and hitting each other.

Both teams hoping to find some offense at the end of the rainbow.

Bobcats didn't have to go that far.

Just give the ball to abraham dudley.

He's 5-10, 220-pounds.

Try tackling that in the open field.

No thanks.

Big fella rumbles to the cleveland 40 yard line.

Bobcats get it near the goal line, and they let mr. dudley have the honor.

He bulls his way into the end zone from 12 yards out.

Knox central the 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Next bobcats series.

It's the snap to liam fortner.

He's going to take it himself.

Blue raiders never touch him as he gets in the end zone.

Two point try failed so it was 13-0 bobcats.

Time for cleveland's offense to get going.

Second quarter and gage kinsey goes up top and dustun thomas goes up top to make a heck of catch inside the ten.

Blue raiders have to settle for a field goal.

And i mean holder gage kinsey gets it down in the nick of time as the kick sails through.

That made it a 13-3 ballgame.

Not enough offense for the blue raiders as they fall 26-16.
