High-risk sports, such as football can practice but not yet play.

Will have to wait a bit longer for full competition.

Governor cuomo announced the latest guidance regarding youth and interscholastic sports from the state today that said low-risk sports - or those with the best opportunity for are allowed to practice and begin competition on september 21st that's the date the state athletic association set for the delayed start of the fall season.

Other higher risk are allowed to practice as a team beginning on the 21st but not engage in competition with other teams as of now.

The waiting game continues to an extent.

Steve strife: with certain guidelines released - now one of the questions becomes how will they be implemented into forming a fall sports season?

The new york state public high school athletic association re-iterated it's timetable for decision making today - saying that within the next 24 hours - section executive directors and association officers will meet to discuss the specific guidelines.

Within 48 hours - the association's covid-19 task force will meet and within 72 hours - decisions will be made regarding what seasons will look like for the immediate future.

There are multiple scenarios on the table including shifting certain sports to different seasons.
