Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sarnath Archaeological Site in Varanasi on Monday evening. The prime minister was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. PM Modi watched the light and sound show at the Sarnath site. Earlier the prime minister also watched the laser show at the ghats. This comes after PM Modi attended Dev Deepawali Mahotsav at Raj Ghat in Varanasi, earlier in the day. The prime minister lit the customary first diya at the Raj Ghat. Nation remembered Guru Nanak Dev on his 551st birth anniversary on November 30. Devotees offered prayers at Golden Temple in Amritsar following Covid-19 protocols. People along with their families lit candles and offered prayers in the temple premises. On the occasion, devotees also visited Delhi's Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to offer prayers. Earlier, PM Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind paid tributes to Nanak - the founder of Sikhism. President Kovind also inaugurated the renovated PBG Regimental Gurudwara at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi extended greetings to people on Guru Nanak Jayanti. Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated with fervour throughout nation and around the world. Also known as Gurpurab, Nanak Jayanti celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru. It is observed on the full moon day of Kartik month as per the Hindu calendar.

The 5th Battalion of the 1st Gorkha Rifles completed its three and half years tenure as ceremonial Army Guard Battalion. It handed over the charge to the 6th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment. Different infantry units of the Army function as the ceremonial Army Guard in Rashtrapati Bhavan by rotation. The Army Guard Battalion performs ceremonial duties at various important events such as Guard of Honours to dignitaries, Republic Day Parade, Independence Day Parade, Beating the Retreat Ceremony apart from performing ceremonial guard duties at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The 16th edition of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon was flagged off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on November 29. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju, flagged off the half marathon. ADHM followed the safety standards, with bio-secure zones to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Air Quality Index (AQI) around the stadium was recorded at 249 (in poor category) as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a minimum of 9 degrees C and maximum of 26 degrees C in Delhi for today.
Sports Ministry of India has come forward to extend financial support to Uttar Pradesh boxer Sunil Chauhan and his brother, archer Neeraj Chauhan who were facing a financial crunch after their father lost his job due to coronavirus pandemic. The athlete's family was forced to sell vegetables to make ends meet. Taking cognizance of the matter and looking at the financial situation of the family the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Youth Affairs and Sports (I/C) Kiren Rijiju has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each to the athletes under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund (PDUNWFS) for sportspersons.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on December 01 informed that Union Territory has recorded 3726 active COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate of the national capital is gradually declining."The rate of RT-PCR test has also been decreased from Rs 2400 to Rs 800 while home sampling will cost Rs 1200," said Jain.

Farmers continued their protest against Centre's farm laws at Delhi-Haryana border. Protesting farmers refused to entertain the government's invite of conditional talks. They have sought involvement of all 500 organisations in meeting with the Centre. Farmers' response came after the government proposed December 1 as the new date of talks with group leaders. Farmers have been agitating ever since the passing of new farm laws by the union govt. Farmers have threatened to block all entry points to New Delhi, demanding repeal of laws.
