All on-campus housing must be vacated by Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020.

Cancelling all in person classes starting tomorrow - they will be shifting to on line learning.

Most students living on campus have until september 6th leave campus.

Tonight - chico state announing five additonal covid-19 cases on campus... that brings the total number of cases there to 27 since just this month.

Action news now reporter vanessa romo starts us off from tonight chico state - she spoke to students who say they're frustrated.

Its terrible you know i mean we got to find a house in a week and they're dropping like flies.

Its crazy you know, i don't know where they're going to put everybody and i know a lot of people are displaced but it was also like covid was bad here so it's kind of nice to get everybody in a safer spot because it was getting crazy here chico state president gayle hutchinson notified students, faculty and staff via email, sunday that in person classes will transition to virtual only beginning monday for the entire fall semester and all students living on campus must vacate by september 6th.

It sucks but it is what it is, like coronavirus, we're in a pandemic, as you can see a lot of people are rattled at the moment, it's a mixture of emotions, we're obviously sad but yeah& on saturday, chico state sent out an email of five additional covid 19 cases who spent time on it campus in august.

I am actually not surprised because there is a lot of students that are in large gatherings going out every weekend so im really not surprised that we have 27 on campus i was a little concerned obviously because i don't want to get it but i know that chico state is taking precautions to prevent the spread... according to the university, the cases involved people who spent time in holt, yolo, langdon and sutter and whitney hall.

Hutchinson says nearly every on- campus residence hall has been impacted at least by one case and there's concern that numbers will increase if students don't vacate.

Some people are worried and don't have places to go but they are offering off campus housing to uhndreds of people i believe, so everybody is just scrambling to find something.

Most students who live on campus say they plan to stay nearby off campus.
