Trinity Baptist Church on Athens Quincy Road in Monroe County is planning a drive through trunk or treat for Halloween.

Control released its do's and don't's for halloween.

Cities and organizations all over the area typically plan something for halloween, whether it be trick or treating or a costume party... some have been canceled because of the coronavirus... wtva's chelsea brown is live at one church with how they plan to keep the trick or treaters safe on halloween.

Some of the recommendations by the cdc include: no door to door trick or treating and no attending any large costume parties.

Instead the cdc recomends carving pumkins at home or hosting a virtual costume contest.

Here at trinity baptist church they are planning a drive through trunk or treat.

I spoke with a church member about how she is planning to limit contact while still getting candy.

Those giving away candy will make individually goody bags with individually wrapped candy to hand to the trick or treaters.

Molly sims is a parent of two and she says her kids love dressing up for halloween and getting candy.

"as a parent i wouldn't want to miss those mile stones, and i wouldn't want other parents too either."

On the passenger side of the circle drive of the church" sims says event is not just for church members but for anyone in the community.

"we are prepared for 1-100 5-500.

Anyone who wants to participate they are more than welcome."

Normally the church would have a fall festival for the community... but because of the coronavirus chuch members have opted for a safer option.

"we love giving back to our community here a trinity, and with covid we haven't been able to do that either" there will also be a contest for the best decororated truck.

Trick or treaters will pick up a ballot at the begining of the drive and turn it in once they get to the end of the treats.
