Your area.

Breaking news out of florence -- the runoff for the mayor's office is so close residents may not know who won for at least a few days.

That's just one of the races we're following for you tonight.

We have team coverage with all you need to know about races across north alabama tonight.

We begin with waay 31's breken terry.

She's live outside of the florence auditorium where those votes were announced, breken?

Only an 11 vote difference seperates incumbent mayorsteve holt who has 3,041 votes and city councilman andybetter who came out on top with 3,052 votes.

Now this race will come down to the 16 provisional ballots.provisional ballots are ones cast that might have some sortof discrpency and it will be up to officials to see which onescount.

So we won't actually know who won this race until thoseare counted next tuesday.

Then if it's still this closethat could trigger an automatic recount.

I spoke withboth holt and betteton who actually fist bumpbed each othertonight and spoke kindly to one another.

Betterton- i knew we both worked very very hard as a campaign out in the community.

I could have never dreamed it would be this close.

Holt- we're blessed if we win we're blessed if we don't win.

We love the city of florence blake edwards also won his city council district run off race tonight in florence with 724 votes to thomas spence's 631 votes.
