Amid encouraging final results of multiple vaccines for COVID-19 around the world, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on November 19 said that he is confident that India will deliver a vaccine in a couple of months. "Our scientists are well-ahead of others in terms of research around vaccine development. We're in a position that I can confidently tell Indians that in a couple of months from now, we should be able to deliver a vaccine," said Harsh Vardhan during a press briefing in the national capital.
BJP Yuva Morcha president Tejasvi Surya on November 09 called Mamata Banerjee government "autocratic, dictatorship and fascist", adding that the 'didi' government will exit from West Bengal after the state assembly elections next year. Surya said, "Not a single sacrifice and not a single martyrdom will go in vain. We will ensure that this autocratic, dictatorship and fascist government of Mamata Banerjee will be shown the door in the coming elections. I ask conscientious Indians, who respect and value the Indian Constitution, to raise voices against fascism in West Bengal, stand for rule of law." West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections will be held next year.
Seven Indians were kidnapped in Libya last month, the Ministry of External Affairs said. It added that India is in touch with Libya authorities to rescue them. The Indians hail from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. “The Indians were kidnapped at a place called Asshwerif on September 14. They were on their way to Tripoli airport to catch a flight to India. The Indians were working at a construction, oil field supplies company,” MEA Spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava said. He added that in September 2015, Indians were advised to avoid travelling to Libya and later in May 2016, the government imposed a complete travel ban which is still in force. “Our Embassy in Tunisia has reached out to Libyan govt authorities concerned. The Indians are safe, their photographs have been shown to us. The government is in touch with their family members and the employer. We are trying our best to secure their release from captivity,” Srivastava said.

On November 21, Pakistan High Commission officials in Delhi were summoned by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Nagrota encounter where four terrorists were neutralised. Nagrota incident happened on November 19.

Libyan intelligence officer Abdel Basset al-Megrahi was jailed for life in 2001 for the 1988 murder of the 270 passengers and crew of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockervie. He died in 2012.

Amid the campaigning for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday pitched for renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. "Some people were asking me if Hyderabad can be renamed as Bhagyanagar. I said, 'Why not?' I told them that we renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP came into power in Uttar Pradesh. Then why can't Hyderabad be renamed as Bhagyanagar?" Amid farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' protest, farmers of Uttar Pradesh on November 28, arrived at Delhi-Ghaziabad border to support the farmers from Punjab are protesting over Centre's three farm laws. "We want guarantee in Minimum Support Price (MSP). We're going to discuss with other farmer groups and then decide on further plans," said BKU Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait. Meanwhile, protesting farmers from Punjab who have been settled at the Nirankari Samagam Ground in Delhi's Burari have again cleared their indication that they will not stop protesting until the Centre rolls back the three contentious farm laws.
Heavy rains damaged paddy crop in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district. Several parts of the district received light to moderate rainfall following the landfall of severe cyclonic storm Nivar during the intervening night of November 25 and 26. Thousands of acres of paddy crops damaged in West Godavari district which is considered to be the rice bowl of the state. Farmers who had cotton ready are now suffering losses. Not only the cotton field but also the cotton which farmers took to the mandis is all wet.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and PM of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering will virtually launch RuPay Card phase-2 in the neighbouring country on November 20, said Anurag Srivastava, Spokesperson, MEA on Nov 19. He said, "Prime Ministers of India and Bhutan will virtually launch RuPay Card phase-2 in Bhutan on November 20. The two PMs had launched phase-1 of the project during PM Modi's visit to Bhutan in August 2019." "The implementation of phase-1 of RuPay card enables Indian visitors in Bhutan to access ATMs and point of sale terminals in Bhutan. The phase-2 will allow Bhutanese cardholders to access RuPay network in India," he added.
"We believed that the judgment on Kulbhushan Jadhav by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) should be implemented in good spirit," said MEA Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava, Spokesperson, MEA on November 19 while addressing press conference. He said, "The International Court of Justice's 2019 judgment on Kulbhushan Jadhav has not been acted upon by Pakistan till now. We believe that the judgment of the ICJ should be implemented in good spirit."
The ministry of external affairs said that India and China have agreed to maintain dialogue to resolve the Ladakh standoff. "The talks between India and China were candid, in-depth and constructive. Both sides exchanged views on disengagement at all friction points along LAC. They have agreed to maintain dialogue through military and diplomatic channels," MEA Spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava said. The ministry, however, declined to comment on reports that two sides are discussing proposals for disengagement. "When we have something to share, we will share," Srivastava said. MEA further said that the two sides will soon hold another round of talks on border standoff. "They have also agreed to have another round of meeting soon," Srivastava added. India and China border standoff has entered its seventh month. Thousands of troops from both sides have dug in for the winter along LAC in Ladakh sector. They are reportedly discussing proposals to withdraw tanks and artillery from the area.
