One person died Monday after a COVID-19 outbreak at University Place in West Lafayette.

In tippecanoe county.

And one person died yesterday as a result.

News 18's joe paul is live at university place where the death occurred.

He's been following the number of cases at local long-term care facilities.

And he joins us now with the latest.

This is the sixth death from covid-19 at long-term care facilities in tippecanoe county.

The person was a resident here at university place on lindberg road in west lafayette.

As news 18 previously reported, rosewalk village was the site of an outbreak in july.

Fifty-five residents and thirteen staff tested positive for the virus.

Five residents there died.

University place right now is dealing with an outbreak of cases among ten residents and five staff members.

That's according to executive director dave kinder.

The outbreak began after a resident contracted the virus at a local hospital then returned to the university place health center.

Kinder declined to say which hospital that was.

That person began showing symptoms on october 11th and tested positive on october 14th.

Tippecanoe county health officer dr. jeremy adler says another long-term care facility has an outbreak of less than five cases.

But he declined to say which one.

Indiana's covid-19 dashboard shows creasy springs health campus has two new cases as of october 21st.

The campus has reported seven total cases among residents and less than five among staff.

Signature healthcare in lafayette was also the site of a cluster back in august.

The facility so far has reported 12 cases among residents and six among staff.

The dashboard also shows eight staff members at westminster village have tested positive for the virus..

Although it's unclear when.

I reached out to all of these places requesting on-camera interviews but i was turned down.
