Mayor to ask council to support extending mask mandate another 90-days

Joseph's mayor said today about his plans to extend the order... <<that's right alan ...the city's mask mandate order is set to expire one week from today... but mayor mcmurray said today he wants to extend that order out for several more months...the mayor telling kq2 he will ask the city council for support to extend the mask mandate for another 90-days... that means you'll be wearing those masks through february 14th -- valentine's day... the order requires masks or face coverings in all indoor public spaces... the mayor says with more than 70 people in the hospital ..we are in a grave situation... he also stressed just because our numbers are higher ...it does not mean the mask mandate is not working... he belives continuing to wear masks will help keep the community healthy as we head into the holidays...(sot mayor bill mcmurray/st.

Joseph: "well, of course our numbers are higher.

It's that time of year when more people are indoors and closer together.//but we're all gonna have to sacrifice to get these numbers down.

Imagine where these numbers would be if we had no attempt here.

If more people would follow, and i want to congratulate all the people who are following the mask mandate, but everybody would do it, if we could get more people to do it, you know, we'd have better results.")the mayor will bring up the extension at next week's council meeting on monday... he says after those 90-days are up... if he needs to extend the mandate further ...he will.
