Kimt news 3's maleeha kamal spoke with the district superintenden t to see how the process will play out.

I spoke with superintenden t michael munoz who tells me that he wants parents to be involved in this process.

In november 2019, a referendum was passed to address overcrowding in the rochester public schools district.

The district approved a comprehensive building bond in the amount of roughly 180?

"* million dollars.

Soon there will be a series of additions... (grpahic w/details) a new northwest elementary, a new northwest middle school,a new bishop elementary school and a new longfellow elementary school.

Last thursday the district held a community meeting to get the ball rolling.

The first step was bringing in an expert.

"any time you adjust boundaries in a school district its a very emotional time and thats one of the reasons we hired an outside consultant..wh ere thats what they do for a living they do this type of work.

We felt it was important somebody with expertise that can facilitate this process.

During the meeting parents were given the opportunity to ask quesitions and voice concerns.

"there were quesitions on whether the boundaries will change the high school boundaries.

Who makes the final decisions.

Which is the school board is the one to make the final decision.

The advisory committe will bring options to them then ultimately the board will make the final decision.

But before the final step can happen the district wants to hear from parents.

A survey has been issued to compile what munoz calls guiding principles of importance to parents.
