Hospital beds available in Glenn County, staffing levels a challenge

Hospitals across California are adapting to meet the needs of coronavirus patients.

Julia... glenn county health reps tell me they have enough bed space but like many other hospitals - they are short staffed.

The only hospital in the county is glenn medical center.

The facility has 47 licensed beds and right now- at least 27 patients.

That leaves 20 beds available.

"right now with the critical shortages across the state is staffing, so we have physical space but we do need more medical staff.

We received a rapid medical response team from the california national guard."

That response team consists of 10 members including a nurse practitioner and a physician's assistant.

Travis says the extra manpower has helped keep staffing at safe levels..

Health reps say they typically see a full hospital because of flu season.

They encourage everyone to get their flu shot.
