Butte County Residents Call Fire Scene 'Eerie,' 'Apocalyptic'

BACKGROUND ON THE CAMP FIRE An 18,000-acre fire has forced several evacuations in Butte County.

The town of Pulga and several areas of Paradise have been told to evacuate, according to the Butte County Sheriff's Office and CHP Oroville.

The fire is moving towards the hospital on Pentz Road, according to CHP Oroville.

The fire is burning in the Camp Creek Road area near Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon.

As of 2:30 p.m., the fire was estimated to be 18,000 acres in size, Cal Fire said. The fire, named the Camp Fire, started Thursday morning at 6:33 a.m.
