The community it's been six months since the archie creek fire swept over highway 138 in douglas county... and fire survivors say rebuilding is taking much longer than expected.

Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza shows us how some fire survivors are trying to stay positive.

It hard??every time i want to do something, i realize i have nothing to do it with?

Those were the voices of a couple who lost years of memories in the devestating archie creek fire.

After six months, they tell me theye finally ready to move on& and rebuild what they lost.

But it hasn been easy& due to delays from the federal, state and county governments.?it slow, it really slow.

There a lot of aspects to this that we didn really know about?

Since the beginning, the staff at glide revitilization has stepped in to help fire survivors through this tough time.

Executive director alison doty tells me most of the delays are coming from lost paperwork and miscommunications between agencies.

"there were serveral properties that their information got dropped or lost somewhere."

Evita:?doty says there are some fire survivors that have decided to clean up their properties themselves and have begun rebuilding, despite all the money they had to pay out of pocket to get it done.

As you can see, one of those houses is right behind me, in the far distance.

However, she says she completely understands why they decided to do it?

She says it speeding up the process for those who that route& but it costs a lot of money out of pocket.?it their property.

They want to get moving.

And this area is not known for sitting around waiting for something to happen?

Right now, doty says there no timeline as to when clean up will be completely finished.

However, the couple i spoke to tell me theye going to try to stay positive, for now.?it is still beautiful.

There still peace up there and it feels very peaceful and beautiful?
