HBO Signs 5-Year Deal With ‘Game of Thrones’ Author George R.R.

‘The Hollywood Reporter’ has reported a five-year overall deal between ‘Game of Thrones’ author George R.R.

Martin and HBO.

The deal is reportedly worth somewhere in the mid-eight figure range.

It will see four-time Emmy winner Martin developing content for HBO and HBO Max.

News of this deal comes on the heels of a number of ‘Game of Thrones’ prequels entering development.

The network has five projects based on Martin’s books in development and one project that’s already been greenlit to series.

Martin is an executive producer on all six projects and is reportedly working closely with the writers on each.

Aside from ‘Game of Thrones,’ Martin is also executive producing two series being adapted from novels for HBO.

They are, ‘Who Fears Death,’ which is based on Nnedi Okorafor’s 2011 postapocalyptic novel, and ‘Roadmarks,’ which is based on Roger Zelazny's 1979 fantasy novel
