'This is our backyard': Oregon firefighters describe battling historic wildfires

Firefighters are using a community college in Salem as a staging ground for wildland firefighting operations. More than 500 firefighters so far have been called to battle the Santiam Fire, Oregon's largest burning blaze that has reached more than 190,000 acres and is 20 per cent contained, according to the US Forest Service.
