Macy's earnings beat Wall Street, prompt stock spike

Department store giant Macy's Inc. posted stronger than expected earnings on Feb. 25, causing a pre-market bump to the company's stock price. Macy's (NYSE: M) reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.12 for the fourth quarter of 2019. While that was down from the $2.73 the retailer reported in the same quarter of 2018, it still trounced the average analyst estimate of $1.96 per share.
