S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX:XJO) jumped 68 points to 6104.6 by 1.35 pm with the big miners, banks, and the tech sector all surging ahead. The index is on track to record a fourth straight session of gains, which has not happened since early July. Today’s gains followed a strong lead from the US where President Trump encouraged Congress to pass a number of standalone fiscal stimulus bills. Heavyweights gain The tech sector leads gains with a 2.39% rise with Afterpay (ASX:APT) up 1.13% and Xero (ASX:XRO) 4.3% higher. BHP Group Ltd (ASX:BHP) surged 2.2%, Commonwealth Bank (ASX:CBA) added 0.7% and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) gained 1.6%.
