Walmart cuts jobs at Bay Area tech hub as a result of Vudu sale to Fandango

Walmart’s deal to sell its Vudu streaming service to Fandango has resulted in a wave of layoffs at the retail giant’s tech hub in Sunnyvale. In a WARN notice received by the California Employment Development Department on Oct. 14, Arkansas-based Walmart stated that 216 tech workers would be laid off from its facility at 840 West California Ave. in Sunnyvale, effective June 30.
