PVW Resources NL (ASX:PVW) continues its exploration drilling campaign in the Leonora region of Western Australia with drilling now underway at the Brilliant Well Project. Two drill rigs are operating with two aims - to provide follow up reverse circulation (RC) drilling of previous aircore (AC) results and AC drilling to test regional targets. There are 400 metres of RC drilling planned to follow-up AC results from 2019 along with 5,000 metres of AC drilling to test structural and geophysical targets in the north of the project area. Geophysical interpretation has provided numerous targets requiring first-pass drilling at the north of the Brilliant Well prospect. Drilling is expected to be completed by July with assay results by the end of the September quarter. “Excellent results in region” PVW executive director George Bauk said: “It is great news that drilling has commenced at the Brilliant Well project in the Leonora Region. “We are following up on drilling we completed in 2019 which included 4 metres at 4.09 g/t and 6 metres at 1.96 g/t. “We have seen excellent results announced in the past few months in the region, with particular reference to Northern Star’s Bundara Gold Project to the north of our project and we look forward to results from the Brilliant Well drilling campaign now underway.” Brilliant Well exploration drilling Some 4 kilometres of the strike over magnetic anomalies and large interpreted structures will be tested with aircore drilling with the majority having never been drill-tested. The presence of a transported cover of unknown thickness requires the use of aircore drilling to test these regional targets. As well as the regional targets, current drilling activities aim to follow up recent mineralisation intersected by a small aircore program completed by PVW in 2019. The 2019 drilling was aimed at testing a possible northwest trend to sporadic near-surface mineralisation. Bauk said: “We have a lot of activity currently underway with results pending from both the Jungle Well Project and our most recently completed program at the Kalgoorlie Project. “Whilst we have been impacted by the stretched exploration infrastructure in Western Australia in relation to drill rigs and lab turnarounds, we have still managed to undertake a number of programs to advance all of our projects.” Previous work Previous exploration had tested the regional north-northeast orientation while a northwest strike was inferred at the prospect scale. The north-northeast trend is considered regionally significant and is appropriate for regional exploration targeting. Mineralisation was intersected on the interpreted northwest structure and this will be further investigated with RC drilling to confirm the orientation and the dip of what appears to be mineralisation traversing the regional structural trend Results from the 2019 program being followed up with RC drilling, include: 4 metres at 4.09 g/t gold from 27 metres; and 6 metres at 1.96 g/t from 67 metres. The Brilliant Well target orientation, in particular the northwest orientation, is potentially analogous to the Wonder North open pit, where Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) drilling has highlighted the growth potential of the shallow, open system, with the high-grade shoot getting wider at depth. Tanami plans Bauk added: “Upon approval of our recently submitted HIA for our Tanami Project, we plan to be on the ground there in July to follow up on historical gold and REE results and await for the Tanami airborne survey to be completed in July as well.”
