Authorities say a man shot by an off-duty deputy in Omaha, Nebraska, over the weekend is in serious but stable condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities say the 27-year-old man is expected to be interviewed later. The off-duty deputy was headed to work at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center in Omaha early Saturday when he called for on-duty officers to help him because of a disturbance. Authorities say the off-duty officer ended up discharging his weapon but didn't elaborate in a news release Sunday. The sheriff's office has not yet released the officer's name.
