There aren't many newcomers in the airline business. It takes a lot of money to line up planes and hire pilots, flight attendants and all the other workers needed to airliners flying. And in the United States, the industry is dominated by four big carriers. But that didn't scare away Andrew Levy. He started Avelo Airlines in 2021. The airline saves money by flying older Boeing 737 jets that can be bought at relatively low prices. It operates out of less-costly secondary airports. Levy says Avelo is already making a profit, although he declines to give numbers. He spoke with The Associated Press about getting people to fly on a new carrier.
