Apple reportedly mulls acquisition of podcast network Wondery

Apple recently held talks with podcast producer Wondery, which is looking to sell itself for between $300 million and $400 million, according to a report Friday.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports Apple, Sony and two other unnamed companies are in discussions to buy Wondery, producer of podcasts like "Bunga Bunga" and "Dr. Death." While talks are ongoing and the podcaster expects to seal a deal in the coming months, any potential bids might ultimately fall through, the people said.According to podcast monitoring firm Podtrac, podcasts on Wondery's network draw some eight million listeners a month. The producer holds rights to a slate of content that can be remodeled for mainstream media platforms. Wonder is already using its podcast lineup to develop more than a dozen TV shows, the report said.
