*Ed Sheeran* has confirmed the birth of his first child.

The songwriter is married to long-term partner Cherry Seaborn, with the pair having dated since 2015.

Now Ed Sheeran has become a father for the first time, with the couple welcoming the birth of a baby daughter.

In a post on Instagram the multi-award winning songwriter expressed his delight, with the child named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

Saying the couple were "on cloud nine" Ed Sheeran also shared a pair of tiny baby socks.
