For a couple of decades, Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan has been living in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Illinois. Highland Park is also the location of Madame Zuzu’s, the tea house that Corgan owns and occasionally uses to play solo shows. Earlier this month, Highland Park was the site of a mass shooting at a July 4 parade. Seven people were murdered, and 48 others were wounded. Last night, Corgan played a benefit for Highland Park shooting victims at Madame Zuzu’s, and he took the occasion to debut a new Smashing Pumpkins song inspired by the shooting.
