Book Review: Comedian Maria Bamford details her mental health issues with compassion and humor

Comedian Maria Bamford details her decades-long journey to address her various mental health issues with compassion and humor in her new memoir, “Sure I'll Join Your Cult.” Bamford was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder and Obsessive-compulsive disorder and spent years trying to find the right treatment. While that may not sound funny, the AP's Mae Anderson says Bamford is well versed in joking about her maladies and opens up in the hopes that others might not feel as alone as she was battling her illness. The memoir urges anyone suffering to reach out and get help — anywhere they can.
