Akal Takht change sudden & swift as SAD tries to win back lost vote bank

The appointment of the jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, as the jathedar of Akal Takht on Friday carries political significance, given that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the mini-parliament of Sikhs, is expected to go to elections soon and its former chief, Jagir Kaur, has parted ways with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and formed a new group.
