Uttarakhand tunnel rescue: IAF steps in as drill machine fails; Thai cave rescuers contacted

Rescue efforts to evacuate 40 workers trapped in an under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi faced another setback due to a landslide and the failure of the auger drill machine. To expedite the rescue, the Indian Air Force airlifted a 25-ton drilling machine to the site. The machine has a penetration rate of 5-6 meters per hour and will help overcome the fragile nature of the rocks in the area. Additionally, a larger duct pipe was inserted to send more food to the trapped workers, and advice is being sought from experts involved in the Thai cave rescue.
