Zoramthanga, the outgoing chief minister of Mizoram, has resigned as the president of the Mizo National Front (MNF) following the party's defeat in the assembly polls. In his resignation letter, Zoramthanga takes moral responsibility for the party's poll debacle. The MNF will hold a meeting to decide whether to accept his resignation. The MNF, which has been in existence for over 60 years, lost to the opposition Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) in the election, with ZPM securing 27 seats in the state assembly.
