Former MLA & BJP poll aspirant shot dead in Arunachal Pradesh

54-year-old Yumsem Matey, former legislator in Arunachal Pradesh, was kidnapped and shot dead on the India-Myanmar border by suspected NSCN (Khaplang Yung Aung) cadres. He was taken from a village in Tirap district and killed at the international border. Matey had represented Khonsa West as a Congress MLA and recently announced plans to contest the upcoming assembly election. Arunachal Pradesh's southern districts, which share the border with Myanmar, are insurgency hotspots.
