Pres. Hadi: Legitimate Yemeni gov't supports approach to peace initiatives

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, March 28 (KUNA) -- Yemeni President AbdRabbu Mansur Hadi said on Sunday that the legitimate government would continue its positive response to initiatives and efforts to bring peace to Yemen.This came during a meeting President Hadi held with the UN special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) stated.The meeting discussed international and regional efforts to end the war in Yemen, namely the Saudi initiative.President Hadi assured that the legitimate government is a keen-seeker for the sustainable peace that based on the three terms of reference including the GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and the UNSCR 2216 to maintain Yemen's unity, security and stability.He pointed out that the continued escalation of the Houthi militia in Marib and other governorates confirms that they do not intend to deviate to peaceful options to end the war.He stressed that "the Yemeni people will not accept the reproduction of the Iranian experience and the return of Yemen to the ended priestly rule." For his part, the UN envoy appreciated the positive steps taken by the Yemeni government to deal with the Saudi initiative to bring peace and end the war based on its responsibility towards the Yemeni people. He stressed the UN awareness of the importance of the humanitarian and livelihood aspects in Yemen.He expressed his appreciation for the Yemeni President's support for the UN and international efforts to bring peace to Yemen to ends the war, pointing out that the humanitarian situation is extremely difficult and requires concerted efforts.
