Jordan records 52 COVID-19 fatalities, 1, 731 new cases on Sunday-MoH

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 25 (Petra)-The Ministry of Health announced 52 Covid-19 fatalities and 1,731 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 8,615 and the caseload to 702, 154.The statement added that there are currently 25, 202 cases on Sunday countrywide.The new infections comprised 401 cases in the capital, Amman, 311 in Zarqa, 223 in Irbid, including 13 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 210 in Mafraq, 134 in Karak, 103 in Tafileh, 71 in Jerash, 69 in Madaba, 59 in Balqa, 59 in Ajloun, 50 in Aqaba, 41 in Ma'an, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 212, while 195 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 3, 565 bringing the total to 668,337 since the outbreak began.Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 1,802.The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has has reached 56%, 55%, and 28%, respectively.With regard to testing, 16, 681 tests were conducted Sunday, 10.38 percent of which were positive.Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,610, 353, the joint statement noted.
