19 COVID-19 deaths, 1,180 virus cases recorded Wednesday

(MENAFN - Jordan Times) AMMAN � A total of 19 COVID-19 deaths and 1,180 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, increasing the caseload to 727,612, the government announced.The new fatalities took the Kingdom's coronavirus death toll to 9,314 according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 3.61 per cent, compared with 3.94 per cent reported on Tuesday.A total of 32,690 virus tests were also conducted on Wednesday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 7,034,669, according to the statement.The statement added that 1,007 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 707,609.The statement added that there are currently 10,689 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.A total of 80 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Wednesday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 645, the statement said, adding that 70 recovered patients left hospitals.On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 14 per cent, ICU beds reached 27 per cent, while occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 18 per cent.In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 14 per cent, 17 per cent for ICUs and 9 per cent for ventilators.The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 7 per cent, 7 per cent for ICUs and 7 per cent for ventilators.The cases comprised 415 infections in Amman, 205 in Irbid, including 21 in Ramtha District, 71 in Balqa, 161 in Zarqa, 25 in Madaba, 14 in Aqaba, 85 in Mafraq, 33 in Jerash, 50 in Ajloun, 54 in Karak, 12 in Tafileh and 55 in Maan, including six cases in Petra District. MENAFN19052021000028011005ID1102101056
