Fatal collision, Heathfield, Newton Abbot

Police were notified at around 7.30am today, Saturday 27 June, to reports of a collision involving a single lorry which had gone over the edge of the Drumbridges Roundabout at Heathfield.

The police investigation has since confirmed that the collision occurred at 4.35am and was discovered later by a passing motorist who reported the incident.

The driver, a man in his 50s and from the Newton Abbot area, was confirmed deceased at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

Localised closures and diversions were put in place whilst emergency services attended the scene and Police would like to thank Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue along with the South West Ambulance Service for their assistance at this complex scene.

Police are continuing with their enquiries and are keen to speak to anyone who may have relevant dash cam footage.
