Apple event: smart watch, payment system, fresh iPhone

If there's one thing to take away from Apple's big reveal Tuesday, it's that the company is pushing to become an even more intimate part of its customers' lives. With the announcement of the Apple Watch - the tech giant's first new product since 2010's iPad at the end of the Steve Jobs era - CEO Tim Cook did his best to position the company as the 24/7 core of its users' digital lives. Cook chose not to close the event by announcing the new generation of iPhones, which analysts believe could be the company's cash cow for at least two more years. Nor did he end with Apple's payments technology, which, if successful, could make plastic credit cards a thing of the past.
