New data confirms that Samsung is once again the world’s leading phone maker after a solid performance in the first quarter of the year. The South Korean company shipped a total of 77 million units in Q1, enough to secure the leading position in the global phone market. This means Samsung controls a 23 percent market share, with Strategy Analytics telling Yonhap news agency that the Galaxy S21 series and the affordable A series are the devices currently spearheading the sales. Unsurprisingly, Apple is the company taking the runner-up spot, this time with sales of 57 million units. In other words, Apple now has a market share of 17 percent.
