In omicron hot spot, somber mood as South Africa faces variant

Gauteng province, home to Pretoria and South Africa's largest city of Johannesburg, is the center of a surge in new COVID-19 infections linked to the new Omicron variant. So far, cases there appear to be mild, according to doctors, and hospital admissions have not spiked.
