Ukraine sacks top cyber defence officials amid graft probe

Two senior cyber defense officials in Ukraine have been sacked as prosecutors launch an investigation into alleged embezzlement in the government's cyber security agency. The head and deputy head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) are suspected of embezzling $1.72 million between 2020 and 2022. The officials are accused of buying software at an inflated price from companies allegedly under their control. Ukraine has been cracking down on corruption in its pursuit of European Union membership.
