Original Asterix cover on the block despite legal challenge by artist's daughter

Albert Uderzo's daughter, Sylvie Uderzo, challenges the auction of an original cover painting from the 1963 comic book 'Asterix and Cleopatra'. The painting, expected to fetch 400,000 to 500,000 euros, shows Cleopatra with Asterix and Obelix. Sylvie Uderzo argues that the painting must have been stolen as her father would have signed and dedicated it if he had given it away. The auction house, Millon, claims to be selling the work on behalf of the son of a man who was given it by Uderzo over 50 years ago.
