Verizon Shares Drop After Missing Quarterly Revenue Estimates

According to Reuters, the Nasdaq and S&P were dragged down by tech stocks, but the Dow Jones is trading slightly up.

By the afternoon on Jan.

29th, the top three markets on the New York Stock Exchange had mixed results stemming from quarterly earnings reports.

The S&P 500 shed about 3-points, with four of its top eleven sectors trading lower.

The S&P's communication services index lost about 1-percent after Verizon issued a quarterly earnings report that missed analyst expectations, dropping Verizon shares by 2.5-percent.

The Nasdaq Composite lost about 50-points, falling to 7,036, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added about 70-points, rising to 24,597.
