Top US Trade Official: More Work To Be Done On China Deal

U.S. Trade Representative  Robert Lighthizer says there's still more work to be done before a trade deal could be reached with China.  Testifying before the  House Ways and Means Committee  on Wednesday, the Trump administration's top trade negotiator says that China will have to do more than just buy more U.S. goods.  According to Lighthizer, if the two sides come to a consensus,  the U.S.  will push for monthly lower-level meetings to ensure that the potential pact is being enforced.  His testimony comes after a recent development in the ongoing talks.  Earlier this week,  President Donald Trump  said he won't increase tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods on Mar.

1 as originally planned after "productive" trade talks over the past weekend.  The president also said that if more progress is made, he may plan a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago to solidify the agreement.
