BTS release new album with star collaborations

ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

South Korean boy band phenomenon BTS released their highly-anticipated new album "Map of The Soul: Persona" on Friday (April 12).

BTS, who are a seven-member band, also released the first single and video from the album - "Boy With Luv" featuring U.S. singer-songwriter Halsey.

Other star collaborations on the album include track "Make It Right" with Ed Sheeran.

BTS, who have been together since 2013, have gained a worldwide following, winning over fans across continents and helping popularize the K-pop music genre further afield from Asia.

In 2018, BTS became the first K-pop performers to have a no.1 album on the Billboard 200 with "Love Yourself: Tear" and they made UK chart history soon after by becoming the first K-pop group to have a Top 40 single in the British charts.

In a press release, BTS said their new album is "a nod to the band's past while showcasing their maturity and new found understanding of love and the ever-widening world around them.

The tracks have a clear message: finding joy in love and reaching out to the world".

The group is due to make their debut performance of "Boy With Luv" on the U.S. TV show 'Saturday Night Live' on April 13.

They are due to start a global stadium tour in May.
