The Key Thing to Watch in Nvidia's Earnings Report

Nvidia is set to announce earnings after the bell Thursday.

Jeff Marks, senior portfolio analyst for Jim Cramer's Action Alerts PLUS investing club, weighed in on what he and his team are watching after the company reports.

"A lot of the chip stocks are going to be down today because of the Huawei News.

So you know, that's more of the 5G side, which Nvidia is not really in.

So that's not really an issue.

I mean when it comes to China, it's really gonna be about data center spending first off and as well as the GPU inventory," said Marks.

"Previously that inventory channel's been pretty clogged up and it got pretty clogged when the Bitcoin kind of craze went bust, you know, about six months ago.

I know Bitcoin has since come back.

So that's kind of really going to be the key thing to watch.

There is progress has been made where the channel has been flushed through that way.

Gross margins can rise again." TheStreet will be hosting a live blog to cover Nvidia's earnings after the bell.

TheStreet's Katherine Ross will be covering the earnings and the following call live on TheStreet's Twitter.
